The Diocese of Pittsburgh has stated that the traditional Latin Masses being advertised at this privately owned chapel have not been presented to Bishop Mark Eckman for his review or approval and are not authorised by the Diocese.
The Diocese has advised Catholics not to attend these celebrations and states that attendance at them does not fulfil the Sunday obligation.
According to reporting by The Pillar, the celebrant is understood to be a priest of a religious institute of pontifical right. His identity and the precise nature of any permissions or faculties he holds have not been publicly confirmed.
